PERFORMERS

The Honourable Anna Bligh

The Queensland Premier who shares a birthday with la Fete Nationale, will officially open the festival on 16 July at 10am, at the Cultural Forecourt, Southbank Parklands.

 

Emma Hamilton

Up and coming Sydney-based signer songwriter Emma Hamilton will share her unique French inspired Jazz-pop sounds.
Emma’s debut Album La Musique was released in March and it has already reached number 9 in the Area Jazz Charts.

Mzaza

French (Moroccan) Vocalist Pauline Maudy and her band will share their one of a kind sounds, a melange of French and global ancient and contemporary melodies.

Swing Manouche

Featuring the improvisational and compositional skills of Ewan, Dan and Kay, Swing Manouche will bring their infectious and lyrical take on Gypsy Jazz.
The lineup features Dan Cosgrove clarinet, tenor saxophone; Kay Sullivan accordion; Miranda Deutsch guitar; Peter Freeman double bass and Ewan MacKenzie guitar.

Ykson

Born on Lifou, part of New Caledonia, Ykson will share laid back blues and reggae sounds that he combines with traditional kanak rhythms.

Cirque de Nouvelle Caledonie

Will visit Brisbane for the first time sharing their circus spectacle.

 

Miroar

Miroar are pleased to bring their fresh pop tunes to the festival stage.  French-Australian brother/sister duo will play music that features the warmth of the cello and flugelhorn giving their sound a unique twist.

Burlesque by Bella de Jac

A deadly dealer, showgirl minx and a lady, Bella de Jac is an international teaseur who draws on the spirit of every femme fatale from Mata Hari to Marilyn.
Having secured her place as official burlesque dancer for Pulp Press, winning 2nd place best UK newcomer at the London Burlesque Festival 2009, and now securing the crown for Miss Burlesque Gold Coast 2011, Bella has captured the hearts of audiences all over the world. She is now on the road to the Miss Burlesque Australia 2011 finals in Sydney.

 

Babak Hadi

Babak is the founder of Black Pearl Epicure, a premium food institute in Queensland.
Babak has taught many food classes, including the Melbourne and Brisbane Master classes, and is considered Australia's caviar and saffron expert.

Michel Bonnet

Michel Bonnet needs no introduction. Michel has opened and operated many successful restaurants.
For the last five years, he and his daughter Amélie have been creating a brand for the C'est Bon Restaurants and sees Michel return to where he calls home - Brisbane.

Shay Stafford

Shay Stafford is a Brisbane native who has spent the past twelve years dancing in Paris. Shay danced at the Moulin for three years, rising through the ranks to become the dance captain and a regular soloist performer. She then danced at the Lido for nine years. By 2009, when she took her last curtain call, she was one of the cabaret’s shining stars.

Fashion Parades

Le Defile will showcase a collection of Brisbane designers, boutiques and French inspired labels.

Mana Puppets

Mana Puppets presents this puppet show for French language education. During the show children are encouraged to practise the language as the puppets speak only French.
Ros Childers, the creator, is a long experienced language teacher. She created the play first in German with her husband Hugh. They have toured in Australia and Germany over the last ten years. Following her passion for French, Ros decided to adapt the play as a French language performance.
